By Eric Fitzpatrick '75 "Game Day" depicts the celebratory atmosphere that is so unique to a Virginia Tech football game. It is the 4th quarter with Tech leading arch rival UVa by a score of 30-0 (and yes, we are driving for another score as the clock runs down!) Pictured is a crisp autumn day and the celebration has already started in the parking lot, with fans wearing all of the jerseys of Tech football legends over the years. And hidden in the image are a few surprises: Virginia Tech Coach Frank Beamer, Defensive coordinator Bud Foster, a flyover by the stealth bomber and every logo and name for Virginia Tech from 1872 onward! (As well as all of the parking lot characters - including the HokieBird - that has brought smiles to our faces every time we attend.) The corps of cadets, Marching Virginians, "The Skipper" and even a German Club fellow selling programs, add to the authenticity of the image. |
