    Join Kevin McDonald, Vice President for the Office of Equity and Inclusion, for a presentation on Virginia Tech’s diversity strategic plan. Q&A will follow the presentation.

    Career and Professional Development
    The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center
    Learn how to maximize your Virginia Tech degree. Black Alumni who have excelled to the top of their career fields will share strategies and conduct interactive workshops. The sessions are black alumni reuniondesigned for entry to senior level professionals.

Session I: 
Charting your Career Path
(designed for entry to mid level employees)
Topics include salary negotiation, how to build professional networks, and how to transition into a new field. This session will help you define your professional goals and planning for success. 

Session II:       
Business Empowerment Workshop
Topics include, establishing a legacy of wealth, building and maintaining wealth through any economic climate, entrepreneurial: how to start your own business and where to start, and the power of home ownership

The program is to honor our Black alumni who have made significant strides or had significant experiences here at Virginia Tech. This is an opportunity for our contemporary students and administration to hear, first hand, the trials and successes of Black alumni, as well as the hopes alumni have for our students of today. Do you know who were the first Black SGA president and the first Black African-American female regimental commander? Join us to get answers and hear from some of our pioneers across several decades. 
    • 2 - 5 PM

    Mini Reunions
    Were you apart of a tight-knit group during your time here at Tech? Groups are encouraged to come back and reunite with the people who made your time here memorable. Please register your group for their own mini reunion by filling out the request form for meeting space HERE.

      A salute to some of our most influential Black alumni
      The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center
      A night to celebrate the achievements of Virginia Tech Black alumni. Two alumni will be honored from each decade. NOMINATE HERE

      Dress code: dressy casual
      Examples: dressed-up casual look for men include trousers and sport coat. For women dressy pants, black dress, or cocktail attire is appropriate.      

    Schedule:

    1. Cocktail Reception: 6 - 7 PM
    2. Dinner: 7 - 8 PM
    3. Program: 8 - 9 PM
      Highlight the achievement of notable Black alumni
    4. Dance Party:- 10 PM - 1PM

    Nomination Process:

    1. September 14 - November 1
      Open Nominations Taken
    2. November 2 - 15
      Committee selects top 24 Black Alumni nominees
    3. November 16 - December 31 (A link to vote will be available Nov. 16)
      Vote to select the 12 Honorees

      A Day of Celebration (Let’s Praise and Worship the Lord!)
      The Gospel Experience, the Enlighten Gospel Choir, alumni ministers, and evangelists will lead us in a Sunday morning celebration and memorial service.
